Louis Valenzuela is an American jazz guitarist and a leading figure in the San Diego music community. He has dedicated his life to the furtherance of the art form and believes it is essential for the betterment of our existence.
Louis has been featured in countless performances locally and internationally including; the Jazz Guitar Series at the Westgate Hotel, curated by Gilbert Castellations and The JAM Festival of Montenegro.
Over the past twenty years his contributions to the music community have been vast. In addition to guitar, he plays cuban tres , bass , and oud. Some of the many groups Louis plays with include; JuiceBox , Afro-Jazziacs , The Louis V trio and a Persian band by the name Dornob. He is also heavily involved with the San Diego gospel community.
With his infectious laugh and predilection for Hendrix riffs, Louis has successfully orchestrated the preeminent jazz jam of San Diego for several years.
Louis is also a co-founder of music school and recording studio Avant Garde Music Company - est. 2016 - where he is Chief Engineer and Music Director of the studio’s live production platform AGMClive.
Louis holds a Master’s Degree in Jazz Studies from San Diego State University. Following completion, SDSU welcomed him back as the jazz guitar studio faculty member.
