'The Human Kind' & LuNi tuNes
...just beautiful songs.
The Human Kind is project started by Louis. It features his original compositions meant for a more garage band vibe, like when you were a teenager minus the 'sounding terrible part.' He wanted to go back to his roots of playing electric guitar, in a 'band' setting with lyrics and a vocalist. A la Hendrix if you will. The group plays gigs around San Diego, playing anything from Hendrix, to Hiatus Kaiyote, to Marvin Gaye, to Elton John, to The Red Hot Chili Peppers, to Stevie Wonder, to Louis's originals and then back to more Hendrix. Because lets face it, the world need more people playing Hendrix.
LuNi tuNes is more of phrase than a band name per say. It's what happens when Nina Lelani Deering and Louis V play together. It came out of the two playing jazz standards together and loving it. Lu-Ni. Lou and Nina. LuNi tuNes. Get it? These two have great musical chemistry together and as time goes on it will only develop more. Louis has started a youtube series called, you guessed it, LuNi tuNes. They play in a duo setting doing jazz standards, but the most recent episode is one of Louis's compositions. Keep up with any new releases and shows through Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The Afrojazziacs, also known as Movimiento Áfrojazziacs, was born from a collective of musicians representing a great variety of musical styles including contemporary and traditional afro-cuban, jazz, funk, reggae, cumbia, salsa, afro-beat, and much more. Its members are young professional musicians who are looking to bring a fresh perspective to the fusion of world music. The AfroJazziacs are best described as an Afro-Latin-Jazz-Punk-Funk Band. A full musical experience complete with sax, keys, flute, clarinet, guitar, Puerto Rican quatro, Cuban tres, drum set, bass, conga, and bongo among other various percussive implements. Each member of the collective brings their own musical expertise and music-cultural influence fusing Afro Cuban popular and folklore with Funk, Jazz, and many other World Music styles providing a truly eclectic sound. The AfroJazziac's attitude, musical stylings, and the improvisational nature of their live performances make for unique and powerful shows full of energy and positive dance vibes. The Afrojazziacs have comfortably made their homes in the greater San Diego/Los Angeles area playing in many major festivals and at prime venues. They provide original music that defies standard classification; swanky, eclectic, incendiary and with heavy dance vibes. Audiences are left spellbound; dancing and singing to the unique grooves. It is an amalgamation of all types of music and traditions that catches the hearts and ears of The Afrojazziacs, giving way to a style of music all their own. It is indeed the music of the world they are playing in. The young group of musicians have committed their life to refining, and expanding their musical craft through private study and even receiving Bachelor's degrees in Jazz Studies and Ethnomusicology. You may also catch the AfroJazziacs collaborating/working with other such musical groups as the B*Side Players, Gilbert Castellanos, Dornob, Steph Johnson, In Motion Trio, Johnny Osborne, Maiz, and Jamie Valle. The AfroJazziacs continue to explore new musical mediums and honoring them in their traditional state while adding a contemporary twist.

Dornob, Jazmahalis, Los Bandaritos
A collective of musicians, Dornob, Jazmahalis, and Los Bandaritos are creations of teacher, mentor, father, and friend, Farhad Bahrami.
Dornob: We're a collective of musicians - now spanning two generations - who've been playing Persian music in San Diego since 1985. Our goal, in addition to friendship, crossing cultural bridges, learning the music, and having fun playing music, is to make Persian music accessible to young and non-Persian audiences. Language is outside the door, What are you 'the doorknob' for? -Rumi
Jazmahalis: Jazmahalis is a band that mixes elements of Persian folk music (mahali) with jazz, playing jazzed up Iranian folk ("mahali") tunes, original songs based on poems by Moshiri, Nima, Forough, and Persian pop covers and originals.
Los Bandaritos: Los Bandaritos are a San Diego band playing a fusion of Afro-Arab-Persian Bandari music and Jazz-Rock. We believe Bandari to be the next Reggae and Mahmood - our singer - the next Bob Marley! Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and various small islands share a coastline on the Persian Gulf. The music, Bandari – literally, "from the port" – is a fusion of Iranian and Arabian melodies with African rhythms used by the people of the Persian Gulf region for enjoyment, worship, and healing. Los Bandaritos are a multi-cultural, multi-generational, Bandari band – collective, rather – from the port of San Diego, California. The name Los Bandaritos was chosen unanimously by the founding members of the band Alex, Mahmood, Omar, and Farhad (I forget whose suggestion it was), when we realized we needed a name to describe the music we play as a (fusion of (a kind of fusion) of) Afro-Arab Persian Gulf music of a different age.
